How it works
A solar water heating system uses solar collectors mounted on a roof to capture energy from the sun and heat domestic hot water.
Once the collectors are hotter than the hot water cylinder, a controller switches on the system and circulates heat transfer fluid through a heat exchanger – heating water in the cylinder in just the same way as a heat pump or central heating boiler.
